Sending good vibes to HopeV. You and I seem to be keeping roughly the same pace. What do you think of the desert?

Logging a bike ride is only by minutes, and not miles. I'm not getting credit for the full amount of miles I ride. Any suggestions?
Hi Laura - we can update this conversion rate. Thank you for bringing this to our attention!
Hi again - just made the change for the bicycling at easy, moderate, and vigorous paces. Please let me know if that works better!
I'll be in the saddle again this evening and try again tomorrow. Thanks!
Hi Laura, I’m with you on this! I finally got full credit for the miles I cycled this afternoon. However the app didn’t actually believe I had cycled the distance. So don’t be surprised if you get pushback during your workout later! Good luck!

Hey, I'm only entering my intentional activity. Seems like others are including steps. I thought that was a no no.
                    2
I don’t have a Fitbit right now so am also only entering intentional activity
You’re absolutely right and we’ve been trying to encourage people to log only intentional exercise and not steps. We’ll be contacting all of our participants again over the next few days with reminders.

If you haven't downloaded the (free) Racery app for your phone you are missing the boat. It's so easy to log your activity post-workout!

Founded in 2003, the Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP) is an independent, Boston-based, globally focused non-profit organization, dedicated to engaging the public and patients as partners in the clinical research process. CISCRP provides free education and outreach to the general public and patient communities.

As part of our grassroots outreach campaign among local community members and research professionals, CISCRP works to spread awareness about clinical research and show appreciation for study volunteers, or Medical Heroes. One of the ways in which we honor and celebrate study volunteers is by hosting Medical Heroes Appreciation 5K Run & Walk events.

Our 2019 Appreci-a-thon is a first-of-its-kind virtual fitness challenge that is open to the public and operates as an awareness and team-building opportunity. This virtual fitness challenge is designed to motivate you to get up and be active while also bringing awareness to study volunteers who participate in clinical trials and make new medical treatments possible. All entry fees and donations support CISCRP’s global education initiatives that empower patients and the public to make informed decisions about clinical research participation.

Each mile or minute of exercise can be logged into our customized online portal. Each measurement of activity is converted into miles and will pin-point teams on a virtual Route 66 map in real time. Participants can log any intentional physical activity -- it doesn't have to be running or jogging!

Registrants can order VIP t-shirts, and all participants will receive fun, digital bling, motivational reminders to log activity, and will have an incomparable experience to physically challenge others from around the world.

                      A few pointers:

                      1. We rely on the honor system. You don't have to use a device to prove your miles or minutes.

                      2. No all-day step counting, please use intentional miles. Please attribute your activity to the appropriate day -- don't combine mileage from multiple days.

3, LOTS of intentional activity -- dancing, swimming, yoga-ing, and many more -- can be converted to miles. (See full list here .) Note: All conversions are based on a translation of steps into hour/mile. For example, an hour of moderate cycling will register as 4.83 miles on the route, while the same period of breaststroke will register as 5.14 miles. If you use a step counter while you are intentionally walking or running, just enter those as steps and we’ll convert them too!

4, No activity completed before 2/01 counts towards this team challenge! Only mileage added before the challenge officially closes on February 28th at 23:59:59 EST will count in the leaderboards.

                      5. If your team finishes the route early, keep logging to become Ultramarathoners! An Ultra leaderboard appears below the marathon leaderboard. Keep that competition alive right up to 2/28)
